I spent a bad amount of money on a personal trainer a couple weeks ago. My goal was to lose 10 pounds. So far, I’ve gained 3. The trainer swears it’s because I’m building muscle. The tray of cinnamon rolls I ate last night would probably disagree.
I’ve been thinking a lot about goals lately. Idk about you, but I come up with the most convoluted ways to solve my problems. I just started reading The Goal. It’s about a manager at a manufacturing plant. The manager’s boss tells him the plant’s going to be shut down, because it loses money. He has 3 months to save the plant. At one point, the manager goes to a robotics convention. The plant uses robots to increase efficiency. On the way to the convention, he gets pressed by a consultant. The consultant’s like, 'Hey, these robots are cool, but have they actually helped the plant?' The manager’s all proud and says they’ve boosted efficiency by 36% in one department. But then the consultant asks, 'So, is the plant making more money now?' And the manager’s like, 'Uh, no, not really.' The consultant says, 'Well, then they haven’t really improved efficiency, have they?' The point of the conversation was to show the plant has started focusing on the wrong goals. The plant exists to make money. That’s the #1 goal. If an action doesn’t make the plant more money, it isn’t worth doing.
On a similar note, my top secret project is almost done. Making money is close to my #1 goal. The project is a terrible way to make money. Plus I’m getting burnt out. I’ll probably put another week in and let the chips fall where they may. At the same time, I’m not motivated to go back to the W2 sales world. Buying a mobile home park will be my next project. I will keep you updated on how that goes.
Let’s get to it:

I read something that said 9 out of 10 people have a mortgage rate under 6%. This means I won’t be back in the refinance business anytime soon. Although I have to assume a huge amount of people bought houses when rates were in the 7-8% range. Either way, good to see rates coming down.

In college I stayed at an Airbnb in NYC for a week. This dude turned a 1 bed apartment into a 6 bed apartment. The wall and door for my room were so flimsy, I think this guy just bought the supplies from home depot and hammered them in himself. The rooms were fully booked the entire time I was there. I can’t remember what he was making, but it was a ton. I legitimately considered moving to NYC and doing the same thing as him after graduation.
