🏠 3 Tweet Sunday 🏠
I know it isn’t Sunday, but I didn’t send this last night.
I took an extreme amount of Ls this weekend. I had 3 dates. They all cancelled at the last minute. People are flakey, but 3 cancellations is bad luck. Modern day dating has only existed for a short time. According to Google, the concept of dating started in the 1920s. Prior to that, dating used to be relatively unemotional. Women would meet several men under parental supervision. They would decide on the most suitable match for marriage, which heavily relied on factors such as financial and social status. When a young woman decided on a man she wanted to see exclusively, their activities as a couple took place either in the household, or at social gatherings. At that time, there was no such thing as two young lovers "going out on a date." It’s funny how different the world was then. Bertrand Russell caused huge controversy with his ideas about “trial marriage”. This idea, among many others, cost him his professorial appointment at the City College of New York. This was in 1940 by the way. Today his book Marriage and Morals isn’t very popular, because most of the ideas have been adopted. “Trial marriage” is what we call dating now.
Why are some realtors so bad with communication? They act like my Hinge dates. I find it so weird when it takes several days of calling, texting, and emailing to get ahold of them. Do they not want to sell the house? Another pet peeve. I hate when fans say “we” when referring to sports teams. “Wow Carter. We’re looking good this year. I think we can win the World Series.” No. I think the Dodgers can win the World Series. I don’t think you can.
Let’s get to it:

I love crazy houses like this. I wonder how much this place costs to maintain. It seems like these super unique houses are always hard to sell. Michael Jordan’s Chicago mansion has been on the market for 10 yrs. I guess people that can afford to pay $15 million for a house don’t want one that has a Jordan logo on everything.

I thought this was going to be the situation with my rentals, but not the case. When we get a new tenant my property manager sends me their summary to approve or decline. The first one he ever sent me had a tenant with a 580 credit score. 580!? That sounded crazy to me. I wanted to rent to people with 800+ credit scores. It turns out people with 800+ credit scores and $200k incomes don’t usually rent one side of a duplex in a blue collar area.

Are smaller houses going to be the trend moving forward? In the last email, I posted a tweet about Home Depot selling $63k DIY tiny homes. I’m bombarded with people complaining about housing affordability on social media. I live in my own world, so I’m not really sure what is true. But obviously high interest rates and appreciation over the last few years has made housing affordability pretty bad for most people.
